Über uns

We are a self-organized multicultural group of care workers, Nannies and Nanny supporters.

We are creating a safe space, a meeting point to learn from and alongside each other. We care for and support each other first so that we can then care for others. We like to think that we are collectively caring for the children entrusted to each of us. We are a village caring for its children. We have 10 years of experience creating strong and sustainable bonds between Nannies and families.

We focus on building relationships that are fair to all those who partake in them.

In order to break the isolation that is inherent to our work, we gather regularly online and in person. By providing a platform of resources such as specialised information, workshops, experience and collective knowledge, we aim to dignify our profession, talk about the challenges we face, build community, empower and inform while enjoying life together.

We are interested in and investigating the following aspects of our work:

  • Care work is essential within all human societies. The fact that this kind of work is marginalized, underpaid, illegalized, un-acknowledged and does not lead to social and financial recognition is not accidental.
  • Care work, whether it is care of children, adults, homes or everything at once intertwines with colonialism, classism, racism, sexism and rape culture.
  • Care work is very often precarious work. Many of its forms involve illegalized, and exploitative working conditions that have been absorbed into the framework of the gig-economy. This makes it very difficult for workers to find each other, take stock of their situation and invest energy in organizing.
  • We recognize that the context we operate in values speed and efficiency above reflection and wellbeing. We want to resist and find our own pace. We are tired, we are angry, we are joyful.
  • As a collective we do not tolerate discrimination against queer, trans and BIPoC people, nor based on provenance, socio-economic and cultural background.
  • We work to build our own awareness, educate ourselves and support each other in deconstructing the structures of discrimination in our heads so we can stop reproducing them.
